On this page you can find out more about Woolsey Morris & Kennedy as a firm, and the way we work.

About Us

A Brief history

In 1957, a small office was opened in Sidcup as a branch of a London firm (then known as H C Morris Woolsey Morris & Kennedy).

In 1962, we took over the local firm of Campbell Carter and Co. and by 1974, the Sidcup branch had grown to such an extent that we were able to absorb our London office.

We have been established in Sidcup for over 50 years and we are now one of the largest firms of solicitors in the area.  Our breadth of resources enables us to offer clients a comprehensive, one-stop-shop legal service.

Working methods

The success of our practice has been due to our active policy of client care. This has led to our many satisfied and loyal clients recommending us to their friends, families and business colleagues.

Due to our extensive experience in dealing with clients, we are able to provide the most up-to-date practical solutions for questions and problems you have.

We believe it is very important that there should be no hidden surprises for you when it comes to our charges. With this in mind, we advise our clients of our charging methods at the outset of a matter and keep you up-dated as things progress.

All our staff have email and internet access and all use legal IT systems to undertake client work more effectively. This helps to enhance our accuracy and to make us as responsive as possible.

Standards

Woolsey Morris & Kennedy are a UK based firm of solicitors and we are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). We are required to adhere to Solicitors Code of Conduct 2007. This code is available in English and can be accessed via the Solicitors Regulation Authority's website www.sra.org.uk.

Standards and procedures are also important to us. We hold the Law Society’s Lexcel quality standard and are one of only a handful of local law firms to have achieved this.

We are accredited as a member of The Law Society’s Personal Injury Panel. A number of our lawyers are also members of specialist practitioner groups such as the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

Finally, and most importantly, ours is a people business and, as such, we are committed to the development of our employees' careers. Membership of the bodies mentioned above, together with our on-going training programmes help us to maintain our high professional standards in a constantly changing legal environment.

Lexcel

At Woolsey Morris & Kennedy we are pleased to have gained the prized Lexcel Practice Management Standard, a mark of quality specifically for solicitors.

The Lexcel quality mark shows that a solicitors' firm has met high standards in the way it is managed.

A Lexcel firm offers:

  • excellent client service
  • cost efficiency
  • minimum risks

Firms are examined thoroughly before they are awarded the Lexcel quality mark. Then they are reviewed each year to make sure they are still working to the same high standards.

Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL)

APIL is an independent, not for profit organisation providing accreditation to practitioners specialising in the area of personal injury law.

This accreditation shows an APIL practitioner has achieved a specific standard. An APIL accredited practitioner will provide you with legal assistance if you have had a personal injury or contracted an illness or disease through no fault of your own. We are fortunate to have an accredited Senior Litigator on our team.

Personal Injury Panel

The Personal Injury Panel is operated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

It is an accreditation scheme that:

  • Promotes high standards in practice;
  • Ensures that consumers are easily able to identify legal practitioners with proven competency in personal injury;
  • Helps consumers make informed choices.

Firms with the Personal Injury Panel Logo will have one or more practitioners with skills, knowledge and experience in personal injury and will have been assessed against the SRA's own standards.

To ensure that panel members maintain the required level of competency and expertise the SRA periodically reviews its panel members.

Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP)

STEP is the professional body for the trust and estate profession worldwide. As such, STEP is a unique international intellectual resource which ensures its members prosper by maintaining the highest professional values.

STEP provides education, training, representation and networking for its members, who are professionals specialising in trusts and estates, executorship, administration and related taxes. Members advise clients on the broad business of management of personal finance. Full members of STEP are the most experienced and senior practitioners in the field of trusts and estates.
