ICO Publishes Technology Strategy for Next Three Years

One of the more interesting aspects of the new Technology Strategy document published by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is that it specifically identifies Artificial Intelligence as a data protection risk to individuals and concludes that it is both a risk and an opportunity.

The most significant of the eight technology goals the document identifies is that the ICO intends to provide effective guidance to organisations on how to 'address data protection risks arising from technology' with data protection 'by design' and to assist the public in understanding data protection risks as they develop.

A further commitment is to engage with other organisations and agencies to support the creation of effective data protection regulation and understanding.
